Black Deformation

My painting is deeply anthropocentric. I'm interested in the human figure as a morphological element as well as an emitter of psychological expressions. The absence of colour and light, make the form inconspicuous and accentuates the deformation. This deformation is defined by a centrifugal plasticity in order to denote the oppression, the social claustrophobia and the need for human externalization of reasonable and unreasonable fears. The absence of meaningful contact, the fear of exposing our thoughts, our feelings and even our self is the beginning of the deterioration and malformation of the people I portray. I insist in focusing my attention in the area of the eyes because I consider them to be the mirror of the soul and the proclaimer of the human feelings.

My constructions are a three dimensional extension of my paintings. They refer to the two most powerful bonds, love and motherhood, in my effort to translate and to symbolize these two primitive driving impulses of human existence. With the deconstruction and the restructuring of the material ,from which deliberately lacks the plasticity , i am seeking metaphorical representation of pshychism.
